I have led a varied life prior to finding my calling as a therapist who wants to connect with others and provide support through some of life's most challenging moments. I bring a calm and caring presence with a focus on encountering the difficult areas of our life with openness and acceptance in order to create the life you want.
Continuing to pursue further information to help others, I regularly attend trainings trying to have as many tools as possible to help everyone I may encounter in this challenging and rewarding line of work.
The Long and Winding Road to becoming a Therapist:
Graduated with a college degree in architecture from the University of Florida interested in how spaces affect people's moods
Was a touring and performing musician for many years writing songs about life, love, and everything in between
Started a teaching program in the San Francisco Bay area before realizing my calling to be a therapist
Trained as a volunteer for a crisis center
Attended classes in Gainesville, but received a Master of Social Work from Florida State University
Interned at the Shands Vista Adolescent Psychiatric facility where I led individual, family, and group therapy
Interned with a nationally recognized program (PALS) at an Alachua County middle school where I served as a school counselor
Interned at the VA (Veteran's Administration) where I worked with individuals and led group therapy at a dual diagnosis program for those with substance misuse disorder and a psychiatric diagnosis
Achieved licensure as a mental health professional (SW19163)
Started and led the UF Health Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Supportive Oncology program where I wore many hats and assisted individuals between 15 and 39 years old along with their families who were undergoing cancer treatment
